Nana Patekar Dead at 75? What Happened to the Actor?
Veteran actor Nana Patekar, 75, has reportedly died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. According to reports, he developed severe chest pain and later became unconscious. A medical team rushed to his home and tried to revive him before taking him to a private hospital in Dona Paula. Doctors at the hospital later confirmed that he had died at 5:20 AM, according to reports.
What Is Cardiac Arrest?
• Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency in which the heart suddenly stops pumping blood properly.
• When this happens, the brain and other vital organs do not get enough oxygen.
• A person may suddenly collapse, lose consciousness, stop breathing normally or become unresponsive.
• Sometimes, warning signs such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or extreme weakness may occur before cardiac arrest.
• Cardiac arrest is different from a heart attack. A heart attack happens when blood flow to the heart is blocked, while cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops working properly.
• A heart attack can sometimes trigger cardiac arrest.
• Cardiac arrest requires immediate medical attention. CPR, chest compressions and an electric shock from an AED can help restart the heart or restore a normal heartbeat.
• Quick action is very important, because every minute without treatment reduces the chance of survival.
Doctors are expected to conduct a post-mortem today to find out exactly what caused his death. Although initial reports suggest that he suffered a cardiac arrest, the final cause will be known only after the post-mortem.
Nana Patekar’s passing at the age of 75 marks the loss of a veteran figure in Indian cinema, known for his acclaimed work across Hindi and Marathi films.
