Viral Video Sparks Controversy Over "Non-Veg" Food
A video showing a heated confrontation between a school principal and a student’s mother in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral. The dispute revolves around a seven-year-old boy allegedly being expelled from school for bringing biryani, a non-veg dish to school. The incident has triggered widespread criticism, and authorities are now investigating the matter.
Alleged Expulsion Over "Non-Veg" Food
According to the video, the principal reportedly expelled the Class 3 student for bringing non-vegetarian food to school. The principal is also accused of making offensive remarks about the boy’s Muslim background during an argument with the child’s mother, who questioned the expulsion. The video, which lasts around 4.30 minutes, shows the principal claiming he “won’t teach children who would destroy temples when they grow up” and accusing the family of “converting others through such food dishes.”
Authorities Investigate the Incident
After the video surfaced and public outrage grew, local authorities stepped in. Sudhir Kumar, the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Amroha, confirmed that a formal investigation has been launched. A three-member committee, including the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) and district school inspectors, is tasked with thoroughly examining the incident. The committee will provide recommendations once the investigation is complete.
Accusations of Mistreatment and Locking the Child
The student’s mother, seen in the video confronting the principal, accused him of verbally abusing her son and locking him in a room. She claimed her child was punished simply for bringing biryani to school and said he was innocent and unaware of the controversy surrounding the food. The principal, in response, threatened to call security to remove her from the premises.
Calls for Action by Amroha Muslim Committee
In response to the incident, the Amroha Muslim Committee held an emergency meeting and condemned the principal’s actions. Khurshid Anwar, president of the committee, called for an impartial investigation and strict action against the principal. A memorandum has also been submitted to the Union Education Minister, urging the government to address this sensitive issue appropriately.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that necessary steps will be taken based on the findings.
