Declared Dead, Man Wakes Up at Cremation in Rajasthan!

In Jhunjhunu district, a 25-year-old deaf and mute man who was mistakenly declared dead regained consciousness moments before his cremation. This incident, which occurred at the BDK Hospital, has led to the suspension of three doctors, raising questions about medical practices in the region.

Shocking Moment at the Crematorium

Rohitash Kumar, a young man with no known family, had been living in a shelter home. On Thursday, he was brought to the emergency ward at BDK Hospital in Jhunjhunu after his health rapidly worsened. Despite initial treatment, doctors reported no signs of improvement and declared him dead at around 2 p.m. Kumar’s body was then transferred to the mortuary while authorities completed the necessary documentation, including a ‘panchnama’ – an official report typically prepared before cremation.

Medical Emergency Takes a Dramatic Turn

In a surprising turn of events, as Kumar’s body was being prepared for cremation, he began to breathe. Immediately, an ambulance was called, and Kumar was rushed back to the hospital. Upon arrival, he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for continued medical care. Thankfully, his condition has since stabilized.

Investigation and Suspensions

Following the incident, Jhunjhunu District Collector Ramavtar Meena ordered the suspension of three doctors involved in the case: Dr. Yogesh Jakhar, Dr. Navneet Meel, and PMO Dr. Sandeep Pachar. Speaking on the matter, Meena confirmed that a committee has been established to investigate the circumstances leading up to the mistaken declaration of death. He also mentioned that the Secretary of the Medical Department has been informed about the situation.

Officials Monitor the Case

To ensure further oversight, Revenue Officer Mahendra Mund and Deputy Director of the Social Justice Department Pawan Poonia have been visiting the hospital to stay updated on Kumar’s condition and the ongoing investigation.

Conclusion

This incident highlights the need for thorough medical assessments, especially in cases where patients are vulnerable or have disabilities. The findings of the committee’s investigation are expected to provide clarity on the events and offer insights to prevent such incidents in the future.
