Surat Man's Shocking Act: Cuts Fingers to Avoid Job at Family Firm
A Surat man shocked everyone by cutting off his fingers to avoid working at his family’s diamond firm. Learn about the investigation and the startling details.
Man Claims Missing Fingers After Blackout
Mayur Tarapara, a 32-year-old man from Surat, Gujarat, initially reported to the police that he woke up on the roadside to find four fingers of his left hand missing. He claimed to have fallen unconscious while riding his motorcycle near Vedanta Circle on the ring road.
A Shocking Truth Revealed
What seemed like a mysterious case took a surprising turn during the investigation. Police discovered that the injuries were self-inflicted. Tarapara had intentionally chopped off his fingers to make himself unfit for his job at his family’s diamond firm, Anabh Gems.
Why He Took This Extreme Step
Tarapara, who worked as a computer operator in the accounts department, felt unable to continue in the role. Lacking the courage to tell his relatives about his decision to leave the job, he resorted to this drastic measure to render himself incapable of working.
Initial Police Suspicion: Black Magic?
When Tarapara first reported the incident on December 8, police suspected foul play, possibly linked to black magic. A case was registered, and the probe was handed over to the Surat Crime Branch.
CCTV Footage Reveals the Truth
Through CCTV footage and technical surveillance, investigators discovered that Tarapara had planned and executed the act himself. He confessed to purchasing a sharp knife, which he used to sever his fingers near Amroli Ring Road. To prevent excessive blood loss, he tied a rope around his elbow.
The Aftermath
Tarapara disposed of the knife and his severed fingers in separate bags before being taken to a hospital by his friends. Police later recovered three of the four fingers and the knife from the discarded bags.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to uncover further details about Tarapara’s actions and motives.
