Sundarban Tiger Attack: How One Man Defied Death!
A 50-year-old man from Agi village in the Sundarban narrowly survived a tiger attack. The incident occurred on December 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM, when the tiger struck, leaving the man with injuries to his left hip and lower back.
The victim was rushed to Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital the following morning, receiving urgent care. Doctors administered rabies immunoglobulin as a precautionary measure and began evaluating his injuries.
The medical team recommended X-rays of his pelvis, hips, abdomen, chest, and lower spine to assess the extent of the damage. After initial treatment, the patient was referred to specialized surgical services for further care.
Thanks to prompt medical attention, the man is now stable and on recovery. This incident highlights the ongoing human-wildlife conflicts in the Sundarbans and the resilience of those living in such challenging environments.
Sundarban is a beautiful land surrounded by water on both sides, with narrow paths and fish farming as the main livelihood. But for the villagers, every day feels like a battle for survival, especially during the monsoon, when fear keeps them inside their homes because the tiger can strike at any moment.
