A Shocking Hair Dryer Explosion in Karnataka Leaves a Woman Severely Injured

In a heart-wrenching incident in Ilkal, Karnataka, 37-year-old Basavarajeswari Yarnal suffered life-altering injuries when a hair dryer exploded in her hands. The blast was so severe that it severed both her forearms, leaving the community in shock.

Investigation Takes a Dark Turn

Initially, the police suspected a short circuit caused the explosion. However, further investigation revealed a far more sinister plot—this was no accident. Siddappa, a man romantically involved with Basavarajeswari, orchestrated the explosion as an act of revenge.

A Parcel Meant for the Neighbor

The tragic event occurred on November 15, when Basavarajeswari received a parcel containing a hair dryer intended for her neighbour, Shashikala. Unaware of the danger, she plugged it in, triggering the explosion. Shashikala, who was out of town at the time, denied ordering the hair dryer, adding another layer of intrigue to the case.

"The explosion was not just a tragedy, but a chilling act of revenge that left the entire community in shock. It’s heartbreaking to think that someone could go to such lengths to hurt another."

A Troubled Relationship Turned Deadly

Basavarajeswari’s relationship with Siddappa began while she was still married to her late husband, Papanna Yarnal, an ex-army man who passed away in 2017. After his death, the affair continued until Basavarajeswari ended it on the advice of her friend Shashikala. The breakup enraged Siddappa, who then plotted to harm Shashikala, but fate took a tragic turn when Basavarajeswari became the unintended victim.

Community in Shock, Authorities Promise Justice

The explosion has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing horror at the devastating incident. Authorities have assured that Basavarajeswari will receive the necessary medical care and that justice will be served.

Attempted Murder Case Filed

The police have registered a case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attempted murder. They discovered that Siddappa, using his experience in the granite industry, rigged the hair dryer with a detonator typically used in quarry blasting. He sent the deadly device to Shashikala’s address, but the blast occurred when Basavarajeswari plugged it in, leading to tragic injuries.

This chilling incident highlights the devastating consequences of a calculated act of revenge, leaving a community grappling with the aftermath of unimaginable violence.

"The intensity of this explosion is unimaginable, but what’s even more disturbing is the fact that it was all driven by revenge. It's a stark reminder of how deep human emotions can go."
