Delhi Job or Pakistani Jail? Shocking Twist for UP Man

Badal Babu, a 21-year-old man from Khitkari village in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district, is now in a Pakistani jail after an unusual turn of events. His family, who believed he was working in Delhi, is in shock and has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help.

Connecting Across Borders

Badal Babu was an active Facebook user and reportedly connected with a Pakistani girl named Sana Rani online. Their friendship grew stronger over two and a half years. In August, after celebrating Raksha Bandhan, he informed his parents that he was heading to Delhi for work.

Mysterious Video Call Before Diwali

Before Diwali, Badal’s family received a WhatsApp video call. He assured them he was safe and employed but claimed he was using a friend’s phone as he couldn’t afford his own. Unbeknownst to them, he had crossed the international border near Jammu to meet Sana Rani.

Arrest in Pakistan

Badal Babu’s journey ended in Mandi Bahauddin district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, approximately 240 kilometres from Lahore. He was arrested for crossing the border illegally. Local authorities detained him under Pakistan’s Foreign Act Sections 13 and 14, as he did not possess valid travel documents.

Family Appeals to the Indian Government

Upon learning of his arrest, Badal’s family was left devastated. “We couldn’t believe it. One moment we thought he was in Delhi, and the next, we discovered he was in a Pakistani jail,” said his father, Kirpal Singh. His mother echoed their plea, urging Prime Minister Modi to intervene and bring their son home.

Police Confirmation and Efforts

Aligarh Superintendent of Police (Rural) Amrit Jain confirmed that the family had submitted a memorandum and assured them that the matter would be taken up with the Ministry of External Affairs. Jain stated, “We will pursue all necessary channels to establish contact with Badal and work toward his release.”

Legal Proceedings in Pakistan

After his arrest, Badal narrated hislove storyto the police. He was presented in court, which placed him in judicial custody for 14 days. His next hearing is scheduled for January 10.

Girl’s Perspective

According to Pakistani authorities, Badal’s attempt to meet Sana Rani was rejected. In her statement, Sana clarified that while they had been Facebook friends, she was not interested in marrying him. It remains unclear if she made this statement under pressure.

Conclusion

The incident has brought attention to the complexities of cross-border relationships and the risks involved. Badal’s family hopes that diplomatic efforts between India and Pakistan will ensure his safe return. Meanwhile, Indian authorities have pledged their support to address the matter through proper diplomatic channels.
