How Ed Sheeran Lost 14 Kgs With Simple Daily Habits

Summary: Singer Ed Sheeran has had a remarkable weight loss journey. Let us read how this transformation occurred and how he continues to stay fit and healthy.

The initial days

Back when he was in his 20’s, Ed said that he had an unhealthy lifestyle. Professionally, it was a good time, but on a personal level, not so. He would look in the mirror and “feel gross.
Once, while he was performing live on stage, he pulled a muscle in his back. It was when he became a father that he realised that he had to lose weight and become fit. He didn’t want to throw his back if he picked up his child or pull any more muscles while performing live on stage.

The journey

Initially, Ed did weight training, Pilates and running. During the pandemic, he began lifting weights and employed a personal trainer, Ali Thomas, who conducted online Zoom sessions. His wife, Seaborn, also practised with him during these sessions.
Ed wanted a personal trainer who could accompany him during his concerts. That way, he would not miss out on any exercise sessions. In 2025, he found his personal trainer, Matt Kendrick, who fit the bill. Ed would be exhausted after a stage performance and was not keen to do any bench press or deadlift. This was when he was introduced to Pilates, and there is no looking back.

The secret

The secret of his weight loss journey is consistency rather than heavy-duty exercises. He exercised even when he was touring. Gradually, exercise became an integral part of his life. He has lost 14 kgs of weight and continues to exercise consistently. He has worked on his eating habits, practising portion control and balanced eating (but he does have his favourite foods once in a while), avoiding alcohol/processed food and late-night snacks.
He feels energised, and his overall mental and physical health has improved. He stresses less and feels more confident. His mood is improved, and regular exercise reduces his cravings.
All in all, he is a perfect example to follow. Weight loss doesn’t just improve your appearance, but it also paves the way to a healthy life.

Conclusion

We don’t need drugs or follow extreme exercises to lose weight. Small, simple, regular, daily exercises, paired with healthy eating habits, no alcohol or tobacco, adequate hydration, avoiding processed food, no binge eating, and managing stress, all combined, can make a difference. It requires time, patience and discipline.
