Yuvan's Journey: Battling Leukemia and Turning Point with CAR T Therapy
Thakkar, who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of six, underwent CAR T treatment after a recurrence despite earlier chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. Looking back on his trip, he remembers the difficulties of hospital visits and extended time away from school. Despite these difficulties, he emphasized the benefits of the therapy, which allowed him to participate in hobbies such as snooker or pool wonderful times with loved ones, and build lasting memories during vacations.
His mother, Sapna, referred to the therapy as a critical “second chance” at life, expressing her heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff and the National Health Service (NHS) for their unflinching support and care.
“We felt that our prayers had been answered. Every day, we are grateful for this chance and the committed physicians and nurses who have helped us through this difficult road,” Sapna Thakkar said.
