US Health Department Calls for New Study on Cellphone Radiation

Summary: The US Health Department has called for a study on cellphone radiation and its connection to health issues.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has called for a study on cellphone radiation and its link to health issues like neurological damage and cancer. The Secretary  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had linked cellphone radiation with these health issues.

The steps

According to the Department, 22 states in the US have restricted cellphone usage in schools under the ‘Make America Healthy Again” campaign in a bid to improve the mental and physical wellness of children.
The US Food and Drug Administration has taken down all the old webpages, citing that cellphones are harmless.

The study

The study will examine electromagnetic radiation and health research to fill any voids with new technology to ascertain the safety and efficiency.

The contrast

  • The FDA and the U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention have retained their old webpages, citing that there is no tangible proof that cellphone radiation causes health issues.
  • The National Cancer Institute, under the National Institutes of Health, mentions that to date, there is no proof that cellphone usage causes any type of cancer, be it brain cancer or other types of cancer, in humans.

Conclusion

Use of cellphones should be limited as it causes weak eyesight, poor posture, social anxiety, lethargy, brain fog, memory issues, etc. Technology is both a boon and a curse.  We are so habituated to the cellphone that it has become an integral part of our lives.
There is so much to life than being bent over the cellphone. Interacting with family and friends on a personal level rather than texting them; enjoying the outdoors instead of sitting on your bed doomscrolling; going out and making new friends; joining new hobby classes; visiting the zoo/park; there are so many fun and interesting things to do!

Digital detox has to be done daily: no phones, no gadgets for a few hours, just pure and simple conversations with your family, and see your relationships improve.

Whatever the outcome of the study, caution and restricted cellphone usage are a must.
