Kids Fed Poisoned Sweets by Their Own Mother

In a tragic and deeply disturbing case from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, a young mother allegedly poisoned her two children just five and one year old to pursue a romantic relationship. The case has raised serious concerns about mental health, emotional distress, and the ease of accessing toxic substances without regulation.

What Exactly Happened?

The incident took place in Rudkali Talab Ali village, under the jurisdiction of Bhopa Police Station. The mother, identified as Muskan, reportedly fed her children sweets rasgullas laced with poison on Wednesday afternoon while her husband was away for work in Chandigarh.
Both children were found lifeless on a bed. Initially, their deaths appeared natural, and the family declined a post-mortem. However, police officials, sensing something unusual, pushed for further investigation.

A Relationship at the Cost of Innocent Lives

Muskan was allegedly involved in a relationship with her cousin Junaid, a resident of Khedi village in Firozabad district. According to police, Junaid was unwilling to accept her children. Muskan reportedly saw her children as an “obstacle” to starting a new life with him.
Driven by this mindset, she bought poison illegally from a tractor shop and mixed it into the sweets before feeding them to her children.

How Police Uncovered the Truth

At first, Muskan claimed she was asleep with the children and only realized something was wrong when she got a call from her husband. But her behaviour during questioning and the absence of her mobile phone raised red flags.
Police then analyzed her call detail records (CDRs) and discovered frequent communication between her and Junaid. Forensic evidence and a post-mortem examination later confirmed that both children had died due to poisoning.
After intense interrogation, Muskan confessed to the crime.

Legal Action and Current Status

A case has been filed under:

  • Section 103 (Murder)
  • Section 123 (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Muskan has been arrested and sent to jail. Meanwhile, Junaid is on the run, and police are working to track him down.

Officials are also investigating the unauthorized sale of poison at the tractor shop from where Muskan allegedly procured the chemical.

Mental Health and Social Breakdown

This case is not just a criminal investigation it’s also a warning sign of the emotional and psychological strain some individuals silently go through. It also reflects the dangers of:

  • Untreated mental stress
  • Relationship abuse or coercion
  • Unregulated access to harmful substances

Mental health support, counselling for women in vulnerable situations, and tighter control over toxic substances are urgently needed to prevent such tragedies.

Conclusion

The Muzaffarnagar child poisoning case is a heartbreaking reminder of how emotional turmoil and lack of support can lead to horrifying consequences. While the law will take its course, this incident should push authorities and society to focus more on:

  • Mental health awareness
  • Responsible parenting
  • Chemical sales regulation
  • Early warning signs of domestic distress
