30 Years Later: Wife's Dowry Case Pushes Husband to Death
A tragic incident unfolded in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where a 52-year-old man died by suicide after his wife lodged a dowry harassment complaint against him, three decades into their marriage. The authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter.
Dowry Case Filed After 30 Years of Marriage
On January 26, Janki Giri, the wife of the deceased, Rajeev Giri, filed a complaint against him, accusing him of dowry harassment. The case reportedly left Rajeev extremely distressed and anxious.
Consuming Poison After Days of Distress
Following the complaint, Rajeev struggled with mental distress for several days. On February 1, he consumed poison, which ultimately led to his death. His deteriorating condition raised concerns among his family members, who rushed him to the hospital.
Additional Complaint Filed By Wife
While Rajeev was still battling for his life, his wife approached the police again, alleging that he had consumed poison as a means to pressure her into withdrawing the dowry case. This claim added another dimension to the ongoing investigation.
Police Intervention and Investigation
Upon receiving the complaint, senior police officer Ratan Singh Parihar acted promptly by dispatching a constable to the hospital to record Rajeev’s statement. However, doctors declared his condition critical, and he was unable to provide any testimony. Within half an hour, he succumbed to the poisoning.
Current Status of the Case
The police have classified Rajeev’s death as unnatural and have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident. Authorities are examining all aspects of the case, including the dowry allegations and the mental state of the deceased before his demise.
