Thief Who Gifted Rs 3-Crore House to Actress Arrested

A 37-year-old man from Maharashtra, known for a string of thefts across India over the past two decades, has been arrested in Bengaluru. The police identified the suspect as Panchakshari S Swamy, a native of Solapur, who was taken into custody for a recent burglary.

Burglary in Maruti Nagar Leads to Arrest

Swamy was apprehended in connection with the theft of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 14 lakh from a house in Maruti Nagar on January 9. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the arrest on Tuesday. Investigators tracked Swamy after reviewing footage from over 200 CCTV cameras. Upon his arrest, authorities recovered 181 grams of gold biscuits, 33 grams of silver ornaments, and a firearm.

A Criminal Career Spanning Over Two Decades

According to police reports, Swamy began his criminal activities in 2003 when he was still a minor. By 2009, he had turned into a professional burglar, amassing significant wealth through illegal means. In 2014-15, he entered a relationship with an actress and spent lavishly on her, gifting her a house worth Rs 3 crore in Kolkata and an aquarium valued at Rs 22 lakh.

Past Arrests and Continued Crimes

Swamy’s criminal activities have led to multiple arrests over the years. In 2016, he was caught by Gujarat police and sentenced to six years in Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad. After completing his sentence, he resumed thefts and was arrested again by Maharashtra police. Released in 2024, he moved to Bengaluru, where he continued his burglaries. Authorities have also linked him to a case in Belagavi.

A Life of Deception and Evasion

Police describe Swamy as a habitual offender who closely observes unoccupied houses before breaking in. He frequently changes his clothing after committing a crime to avoid detection. Additionally, he holds a black belt in karate and is believed to have connections with certain actresses

Conclusion

Despite being married and having a child, Swamy has been accused of extravagant spending on multiple women. Investigators revealed that his mother, who secured a railway job after his father’s death, was linked to a property in her name. However, due to unpaid loans, a bank issued an auction notice for the house.
The police continue their investigation to uncover further details about Swamy’s criminal network and financial dealings.
