Man Attacks Nurse Over Proposal Rejection, She Escapes

Introduction

A shocking incident unfolded at a private hospital in Karnataka’s Belagavi, where a nurse was attacked with a machete by a man reportedly angry over her rejecting his marriage proposal. The disturbing act, captured on CCTV, has raised serious concerns about women’s safety.

Attack Captured on CCTV

When encountering emergencies, the body triggers stress responses as a survival mechanism. Hormones like adrenaline and cortisol prepare medical professionals to act quickly by releasing energy and enhancing focus. This response is essential for handling critical situations effectively.

However, frequent exposure to emergencies can overburden the body. Persistent activation of stress responses without adequate recovery can negatively affect health, leading to burnout and diminished well-being.

Harassment Allegedly Led to the Attack

According to police reports, Jadhav had been harassing the nurse for some time, repeatedly pressuring her to accept his marriage proposal. After facing consistent rejection, he even approached her father, who also declined the proposal.

The victim’s father reportedly warned Jadhav to stay away from his daughter. Tragically, the stress caused by this harassment took a toll on the father’s health, leading to his death.

Nurse Undergoing Treatment, Attacker Arrested

The nurse, who suffered injuries, was treated at the same hospital where the attack occurred. Thankfully, her condition turns out to be stable. Police arrested Jadhav soon after the incident and have registered a case against him. Senior officer confirmed, Suspect has been detained, and the investigation is currently underway,” stated a senior police officer.

Public Outcry Over Women's Safety

This incident has sparked widespread anger, with many on social media demanding stricter measures to protect women from harassment and violence.

Similar Cases of Violence in Hospitals

This attack comes on the heels of another violent incident in Chennai. A government doctor, Dr. Balaji Jaganathan, was stabbed seven times by the son of a patient who was reportedly dissatisfied with the treatment provided to his mother.

Dr. Jaganathan is currently recovering in the ICU with injuries to his neck, ear, and back. The attacker, identified as Vignesh, has been arrested by the police.

Rising Need for Safety Measures

These back-to-back incidents highlight an urgent need for improved safety protocols in hospitals, both for staff and patients. Authorities and civil society must work together to ensure such tragedies do not occur again.
