Pregnant Woman Dies Post C-Section in Illegal UP Clinic

Summary: A 28-year-old pregnant woman from Mirzapur died after a C-section at an illegal, unregistered nursing home in Bhadohi, UP. The infant survived. The clinic has been sealed and the owners are absconding.

Tragic Death After C-Section in Bhadohi

A pregnant young woman named Vidyavati Devi, aged 28 years, of Mirzapur district, in UP, was admitted to the Gupta Nursing Home in Trilokpur of the Aurai area for her delivery. Little did they know that it was an illegal nursing home. On Wednesday afternoon, after a C-section surgery was performed on her, she succumbed and died; however, her infant survived and is in a stable condition.

Owners Flee After Incident

This incident led to the fleeing of Neeraj Gupta and his wife, the Director of the nursing home, who are absconding.

Police and Health Officials Respond

According to police reports, after the death of the patient, her family members created a commotion in the premises and the Chief Medical Officer and a police team were sent there to pacify the family. The CMO, Santosh Kumar Chak, stated that more than six pregnant women patients have been moved to the Trauma Centre in Aurai to give birth.

Patients Taken Away for Safety

As the news of this incident travelled, more than 10 women patients were taken away by their relatives from the nursing home.

Illegal Operations Uncovered

It has also been found that the nursing home was illegally operating and was unregistered with the Health Department. They did not have any valid degrees or relevant medical qualifications and were a health risk to society.

Nursing Home Sealed, Case Registered

The nursing home has been sealed and a case is being registered against the operators – the absconding Gupta couple, said the CMO.

Final Thoughts

This heartbreaking loss is more than just a single tragedy; it’s a mirror reflecting the dangers lurking in unregulated healthcare. When unqualified hands perform life-and-death procedures, every patient becomes a gamble. Such incidents shatter families, shake public faith in medical care, and tarnish the image of genuine healthcare professionals. It’s a wake-up call for society and authorities alike: without strict enforcement and accountability, more lives may be stolen in the name of treatment.
