The Versatile Garlic Chutney: Health Benefits and Preparation

Introduction

Garlic offers multiple health benefits alongside being delicious. Garlic contains allicin an organic sulphur compound which gives it a pungent smell.

  2. Anti-inflammatory: Rubbing garlic oil on sore or inflamed muscles and joints can potentially alleviate inflammation
  3. Heart Health: Studies show that garlic can have a positive impact on overall heart health as it helps regulate blood pressure
  4. Clear Skin: Garlic has antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties that can inhibit the bacteria that cause acne
  5. Garlic can even potentially treat fungus, such as soaking feet in garlic water can help in treating athlete’s foot

Garlic Chutney

Ingredients:

  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Dried Red chillies
  • Asafoetida
  • Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Cooking oil
  • Coriander powder

How to Cook

  • To cook this flavorful garlic chutney, start by blending fresh tomatoes, onion, ample quantity of garlic and red chillies with some coriander powder until smooth
  • Heat some oil in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them sputter
  • Stir in a pinch of asafoetida
  • Next, add the blended mixture along with some salt and let it simmer on low heat until cooked.
  • Let it cool completely before transferring it into an airtight container
  • It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2-4 days.
  • Serve warm alongside roti
