Paresh Rawal’s Weird Urine Drink Shocked Doctors

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently shared a surprising home remedy he followed to recover from a major knee injury during the filming of Ghatak, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. His story offers an interesting perspective on traditional healing methods that are still talked about today.

The Injury on Set

While shooting a scene with actor Rakesh Pandey, Paresh Rawal suffered a serious leg injury. Immediately after the incident, fellow actors Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa rushed him to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. At the time, Paresh feared the worst — he believed his acting career might be over due to the severity of the injury.

Veeru Devgan’s Surprising Advice

During his hospital stay, Paresh was visited by the late action director Veeru Devgan, a highly respected figure in the film industry. Veeru Devgan offered a highly unconventional piece of advice: he suggested that Paresh drink his own urine every morning to speed up his recovery.
“Veeru Devgan came to see me at Nanavati. When I told him about my injury, he said, ‘Drink your own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this. You’ll heal faster.’ He also told me to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and mutton, and to stick to simple, regular food,” Paresh recalled in an interview.

The Unusual Remedy

Paresh decided to trust the advice. Instead of rushing through it, he approached the practice with discipline. He humorously mentioned that he treated the act like sipping beer, performing the ritual carefully every morning.
For 15 days, he strictly followed this routine, along with maintaining a simple, healthy diet and avoiding harmful substances as advised.

Faster Healing Than Expected

Interestingly, when new X-rays were taken after a few weeks, even the doctors were surprised. A visible white lining appeared on the X-ray, indicating that his bones were healing faster than normal.
Usually, recovery from such a serious knee injury would take about two to two-and-a-half months. However, thanks to his disciplined approach and perhaps the unusual remedy, Paresh Rawal recovered in just one-and-a-half months.

Conclusion

While the idea of drinking urine as a remedy is controversial and not supported by modern medical science, Paresh Rawal’s story highlights the lengths to which individuals may go when searching for healing solutions. It also underlines the importance of diet, discipline, and a positive mindset during the recovery process.

Always consult a qualified medical professional before trying any unconventional or alternative health practices.
