Luxury Clinic Exposed: No Doctors, Only Fake Healers

In a major crackdown against illegal medical practices, the Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) recently exposed a shocking case involving unqualified individuals performing advanced skin and cosmetic treatments at a luxury clinic named Amyra in Hanamkonda.
The clinic was found offering complex procedures such as hair transplants, skin care treatments, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and laser therapies, all without proper medical qualifications.

Serious Violations Found During Inspection

During a surprise inspection, a TGMC team including Dr. V Naresh Kumar, Dr. Anwar Mia, Dr. Venkataswamy, and Additional DM&HO Dr. Madan Mohan — uncovered several serious violations.
Shockingly, two individuals were operating the clinic without any recognized medical degrees. Moreover, the facility did not have the necessary approvals from the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO). Despite lacking credentials, these individuals posed as doctors and carried out high-risk cosmetic procedures on unsuspecting patients.

More Malpractices Discovered in Other Clinics

During their investigations, the TGMC found similar illegal activities at other locations:

  • At Srinivasa Clinic in Bheemaram, an unqualified person was found running the facility.
  • At SRR Diagnostic Centre near Erragattugutta X Road, a lab technician — without proper authority — was independently performing advanced diagnostic tests.

Clearly, these cases point to a growing concern over unauthorized and unsafe medical practices in the state.

Legal Action Against the Offenders

Consequently, legal action has been initiated. The individuals involved will face charges under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and Section 22 of the Telangana State Medical Practitioners Registration (TSPMR) Act.
According to Dr. Narender Kumar, Chairman of TGMC’s Public Relations Committee, “Procedures like laser treatments and hair transplantation must only be done by qualified doctors with an MD in Dermatology or an MCh in Plastic Surgery. It is illegal for anyone without proper medical training, including dentists with a BDS degree, to perform these treatments.”
He further warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating these norms.

Ongoing Efforts to Curb Quackery

Notably, this raid is part of TGMC’s ongoing mission to eliminate quackery across Telangana. Recently, Medical Dialogues also reported a similar incident in Rangareddy district, where an individual falsely posing as a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) was arrested for running a clinic with a fake certificate.

Conclusion

The Telangana State Medical Council continues its strong efforts to protect public health by cracking down on illegal medical practices. The recent raids serve as a reminder for patients to verify the qualifications of healthcare providers before undergoing any medical or cosmetic treatments.
