Loan Nightmare: Doctor and Mother-in-Law Beaten Up

In a shocking incident, a doctor and his mother-in-law were physically assaulted in Akkamahadevi Colony near the High Court. The attack took place when they asked a borrower to repay a loan he had taken from the doctor.

Loan Given, But Not Repaid

The victim, identified as Dr. Anil Kumar Joy, had lent Rs 50,000 to the accused in 2024. The borrower had initially assured the doctor that he would return the money within a week. However, despite repeated reminders, he failed to fulfill his promise.

Unexpected Assault

On March 12, events took a violent turn. The accused, along with an associate, visited the doctor’s house around 12:30 PM. Pretending to return the money, they called him downstairs. However, instead of repaying the loan, they physically attacked him.

Mother-in-Law Also Attacked

During the altercation, the doctor’s mother-in-law tried to intervene. Unfortunately, the two men assaulted her as well, leaving her injured. She was later admitted to the district government hospital for treatment.

Police Action Taken

Following the incident, Dr. Anil Kumar Joy filed a complaint at the Ashokanagar police station. The authorities registered a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Conclusion

Apart from the physical attack, the doctor also alleged that the accused stole a gold chain weighing 20 grams during the scuffle. The police are currently investigating the matter.
This incident highlights the growing concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals, emphasizing the need for stronger protective measures and legal actions against such violent acts.
