Doctor Found Dead in Goa Flat; Heart Attack Suspected

Summary: A decomposed body of a 60-year-old doctor from Tamil Nadu was found in his Goa flat after neighbours noticed a foul smell. He likely died of a heart attack in his sleep, though the exact cause will be confirmed after a post-mortem.

Shocking Discovery: Tamil Nadu Doctor Found Dead in Goa Flat

What happens when a neighbour’s silence becomes suspicious?

In a quiet residential corner of Talpon, Goa, a shocking case emerged when a foul odour led locals to the decomposed body of a 60-year-old doctor. This incident has sparked concern, highlighting the risks of living alone, especially for seniors with potential health conditions.

The body of Dr. Franklin Dias, originally from Tamil Nadu, was discovered on Thursday inside a rented apartment at Apsara Manzil, located in the Barbhat area of Talzaon. According to the media reports, he had not been seen in several days.

Neighbours Raised the Alarm After a Foul Smell

Residents of the building noticed a strong odour coming from Dr. Dias’ first-floor flat. Concerned and unable to contact him, they quickly alerted the Panaji police.

Responding immediately, police officers knocked and called out, receiving no answer. Forced to break in, they found Dr. Dias lying motionless on his bed, his body in a severely decomposed state.

Police Suspect Heart Disease, Await Post-Mortem

“An unnatural death case has been registered, and the family in Tamil Nadu has been informed,” said Police Inspector Vijay Chodankar, as reported by local media.

No signs of struggle or foul play were found inside the apartment. Early suspicion points to a possible heart attack in his sleep, though this can only be confirmed after a post-mortem at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC).

Autopsy to Confirm Cause of Death

Authorities suspect heart disease may be the cause, but they are awaiting Dr. Dias’ family to arrive in Goa before conducting an autopsy. Police officials explained,

“It is possible that the doctor had a heart attack in his sleep and died in it. Only after the autopsy will the cause be confirmed.”

Dr. Dias had reportedly not left his flat in recent days, which made it difficult for neighbours to realise anything was wrong, until the smell became unbearable.

What We Can Learn from This Tragic Incident

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the risks faced by elderly individuals living alone, especially those with underlying health issues. Regular check-ins and maintaining social connections can make a difference in such cases.

Conclusion: Still Awaiting Answers

While early signs suggest that Dr. Franklin Dias died of natural causes, only a post-mortem examination can confirm the exact reason. As the investigation continues, his tragic death has shaken the quiet locality in Goa.

"It’s scary to think someone can pass away and nobody knows for days. Makes you realise how important community is."
