Surgery Error at BIMS? Intestine Removed by Accident
A serious case of medical negligence at BIMS Hospital in Belagavi has once again sparked controversy. A young man, Mahesh Madar, was admitted on June 20 with complaints of severe stomach pain. According to sources, doctors at the government-run hospital performed surgery on the very same day.
However, instead of removing the abdominal lump that was reportedly the cause of his illness, doctors allegedly cut a section of his intestine and stitched him back. Mahesh was later discharged from the hospital, but his health quickly deteriorated.
Pain Returns After Discharge
Soon after reaching home, Mahesh began experiencing unbearable abdominal pain again. Concerned, his family decided not to return to BIMS. Instead, they rushed him to KLE Hospital in Belagavi. There, scans revealed that part of his intestine had indeed been cut during the earlier surgery, as per hospital sources. Mahesh is now undergoing treatment at KLE Hospital.
Financial Burden on Family
Mahesh’s family shared that they have already spent close to ₹10 lakh on his operations and ongoing treatment. Distressed by both the financial and emotional toll, they are demanding strict action against the doctors at BIMS, who they believe are responsible for this alleged case of negligence.
Conflicting Statements From BIMS
Meanwhile, senior sources at BIMS have denied the allegations. They claim Mahesh was admitted to the hospital for three days and received medical treatment, but insist that no surgery was performed there. This contradiction has further deepened the controversy surrounding the case.
Conclusion
The incident has reignited debate about patient safety and accountability in public hospitals. With two different versions of events now emerging, the demand for an impartial investigation is growing louder. For now, Mahesh continues to battle his health complications while his family seeks justice.
