Crunchy, spiced delight – roasted makhana recipe
Makhana, also known as Fox nuts, are rich in calcium, protein, carbohydrates, phosphorus, zinc, iron, and thiamine. Roasted makhana is a crunchy and healthy snack for in-between snacking.
Ingredients
Makhana – 1 cup
Ghee/oil – 2 tsps.
Turmeric – ¼ tsp.
Red chilly powder – ¼ tsp.
Salt- to taste
Method
- In a pan, add 2 tsps. Ghee/oil and roast the makhana, stirring in between, to avoid burning
- Once they become crisp, add turmeric, red chilly powder, salt and mix (on low flame)
- Once the makhanas are coated with the spices, turn off the gas, and let them cool
- Serve!
- You can store them in an air-tight container also, once they cool down (so that they do not become soggy).
You can add any spices as per your choice. That is the beauty of this snack. It tastes good with any spices!
