Husband from London Killed, Body Hidden in Cement Drum
A 35-year-old merchant navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, from Meerut(UP), was brutally murdered by his estranged wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla alias Mohit. The crime occurred on March 4, shortly after Saurabh returned to India from London to celebrate his wife’s birthday.
Gruesome Discovery: Body Found in a Cement-Filled Drum
Nearly 15 days after the murder, authorities discovered Saurabh’s decomposed body inside a rented apartment in Brahmpuri, Meerut. Acting on a tip-off from neighbors who reported a foul smell, police investigated and found his remains chopped into multiple pieces, concealed within a water drum filled with cement. The cement was likely used to speed up decomposition and reduce detection.
Investigation and Arrest of the Accused
Police officials, led by SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, arrested Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. The suspects will be presented in court for legal proceedings.
A Troubled Marriage Ends in Tragedy
Saurabh and Muskan had married in 2016 despite opposition from their families. The couple lived in a rented apartment and had a six-year-old daughter. However, their relationship had soured over time. Investigators believe Muskan and Sahil planned the murder in advance. After killing Saurabh on March 4, they left for a vacation in the hills to establish an alibi.
Deception: Misleading the Victim’s Family
To avoid suspicion, Muskan kept possession of Saurabh’s phone and continued texting his family, pretending he was alive. His family repeatedly requested a phone conversation with him, but they were ignored. This raised concerns, eventually leading to police intervention and the discovery of the crime.
Conclusion: Psychological and Social Impact
This tragic incident highlights the devastating effects of betrayal, crime, and deception. The psychological impact on the victim’s family, especially his young daughter, will be long-lasting. Such crimes not only shatter families but also create fear and distrust in society. Additionally, the mental health impact on individuals who commit such heinous acts raises questions about the emotional and psychological turmoil leading to such decisions.
While legal proceedings will bring justice to Saurabh Rajput, the emotional scars left behind will take much longer to heal. This case serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of unchecked conflicts and the importance of addressing relationship disputes through legal and peaceful means.
