Botched Fat Removal Leaves Woman on Life Support

Summary: A 31-year-old woman from Thiruvananthapuram is on life support and has lost her fingers and toes after a botched fat removal surgery at an unlicensed cosmetic clinic. Authorities are now investigating the incident.

Botched Fat Removal Leaves Woman Fighting for Life

A 31-year-old woman from Kerala is battling for her life after a fat removal surgery at a private cosmetic clinic went tragically wrong. She lost her fingers and toes and remains on life support, an alarming outcome of what seemed like a simple cosmetic procedure.

If you’re considering cosmetic surgery, this real-life case highlights the

  • Critical importance of safety
  • Proper licensing
  • Professional care

Here’s everything that happened and what authorities are doing about it.

What Happened After the Surgery?

However, her husband, Padmajith, filed a complaint stating that Neethu soon began to experience severe fatigue and other troubling symptoms. Despite informing the attending doctor,

the advice was shockingly basic: just “have salted porridge and water.”

Condition Quickly Worsened

By February 24, her health had deteriorated drastically. She was taken back to the clinic, where staff arranged her transfer to a private hospital after detecting dangerously low blood pressure.

There, she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. She has been on ventilator support ever since.

Multiple Complications and Amputations

According to the Media, doctors found a blocked artery in her left leg, which led to

  • Loss of blood flow
  • Loss of movement
  • Eventual amputation of both fingers and toes

The family claims they have spent nearly ₹10 lakh on her treatment so far.

Police & Health Department Step In

A case was registered by the Thumba Police, and investigations found that the clinic was operating without a valid medical establishment license.

The Kazhakoottam Police have since issued a closure notice, and further action is expected soon.

What Authorities Say

Kazhakuttam Assistant Commissioner J.K. Dinil told the media,

“We have requested the District Medical Officer to form a medical board, which will meet on Thursday. Documents related to the procedure have been handed over to the DMO. Only based on the opinions of the doctors from the medical board, further steps can be taken.”

Cosmetic Surgery Isn’t Just About Looks- It's About Life

This shocking incident reminds us that cosmetic surgeries carry real medical risks, especially when performed at unlicensed or poorly equipped facilities.

Always ensure the clinic is certified, the doctors are licensed, and the facility meets medical standards before undergoing any cosmetic procedure.

Conclusion: A Cautionary Tale

Neethu’s case is a heartbreaking example of what can go wrong when cosmetic procedures are conducted without proper oversight. As investigations continue, this tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for stricter regulations in the cosmetic surgery industry.
