In a heartbreaking incident, a 28-year-old medical student pursuing a DNB in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bokaro General Hospital was found dead in her hostel room. A suicide note recovered from the scene revealed that she was dissatisfied with her chosen field of study.
Police Investigation: What We Know So Far
Authorities confirmed the tragic event, stating, “A 28-year-old medic was found dead in her hostel in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district. A preliminary investigation suggests that she died by suicide due to dissatisfaction with her course.”
The deceased, a first-year Diplomate of National Board (DNB) student, had recently joined the gynaecology program at the hospital. The DNB is a postgraduate qualification awarded by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Roommate’s Shocking Discovery
Bokaro City DSP Alok Ranjan provided further details, stating, “A suicide note has been recovered from her hostel room in which she expressed dissatisfaction with her medical trade.”
He added, “She had enrolled in the DNB course just a few days ago but was not happy with her decision.”
The tragic discovery was made when her roommate returned from duty and found the door locked from the inside. Concerned by the lack of response, she alerted other hostel residents. They broke open the door and found her unresponsive.
