Girl Falls at School During Recess, In Critical State
A 16-year-old Class 10 student from Som Lalit School in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, is currently fighting for her life after a tragic fall from the fourth floor of her school building on Thursday afternoon. The incident, which occurred during recess, has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns.
Incident Details
The event took place around 12:30 PM, during the school’s midday break. According to preliminary reports, a few of the student’s classmates noticed her walking toward the building’s parapet wall. Acting quickly, three to four friends attempted to intervene.
“One of her friends even managed to hold her hand to stop her,” a school official reported. “However, she broke free before any school staff or teachers could be alerted and jumped.”
Emergency Response and Medical Condition
After the fall, the student was initially taken to a nearby medical facility via EMRI 108 emergency services. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to the ICU of a private hospital located in Thaltej.
Medical sources confirmed that she sustained multiple fractures and serious head injuries. As of now, she remains unconscious and in critical condition. Her vital signs are being closely monitored, and specialists are involved in her treatment plan.
Ongoing Investigation: Cause Still Unknown
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine what led to the incident. The Navrangpura police have registered a medico-legal case. Inspector A.A. Desai stated that officers found the girl unconscious when they arrived at the hospital.
“We have not yet determined the reason for her actions,” Desai said. “At this point, we are collecting statements and reviewing all available evidence.”
Authorities Exploring All Possibilities
Safin Hassan, in-charge DCP, Zone 1, emphasised that while no foul play is suspected at this stage, all angles are being explored. “It is too early to confirm why she did this. We plan to speak with her parents, teachers, and peers to understand her background,” he added.
Efforts are also underway to recover CCTV footage from the school premises, which may provide further insight into the moments leading up to the fall.
School and Family Await Recovery
According to the school’s managing trustee, Mr Pragnesh Shastri, the girl has been a student at Som Lalit School for the past five years. Authorities confirmed that any formal questioning will only occur once her medical condition stabilises.
At present, the primary focus remains on the student’s recovery and well-being, as her family, school officials, and the broader community hope for her survival and eventual recovery.
