Viral Fruit Momos in Delhi: Internet Labels it "Poison"

A Strange Twist to a Beloved Dish

Momos, traditionally known as soft dumplings filled with veggies, meat, or paneer and served either steamed or fried, have been a staple snack in India. However, a new and unusual version of momos has taken the internet by storm—and not in a good way. A street vendor from Delhi’s Vivek Vihar is now offering “fruit momos,” which has left even the most die-hard momo fans baffled.

Fruit Fried in Butter, with Cheese and Cream

One of the most unusual versions is the fruit momo, made by a street vendor in Delhi. In a viral Instagram video, the vendor from Delhi’s Vivek Vihar prepares this strange dish by frying fruits like apples, bananas, and guavas in butter. He then adds milk, cheese, and cream, along with seasonings like salt, oregano, and chilli flakes. To top it all off, he mixes in fried paneer momos, resulting in an odd combination that has left many viewers confused and horrified. This unique creation is sold for ₹170. Despite the vendor’s claim that these momos are designed for gym enthusiasts, many people expressed their shock and distaste for the combination of fruits, cream, and fried dumplings.

Social Media Reactions: "Poison on a Plate"

The internet has not been kind to this new momo experiment. While some people were just shocked, others outright condemned the dish. One user commented, “Times were better when momos only came in veg, chicken, or paneer versions.” Another said, “Not to be rude, but I’d rather eat poison.” The outrage continued with someone humorously adding, “In hell, he’ll be fried in Amul butter, not oil.”

Conclusion

Though India’s love for momos has seen a range of creative versions over the years—from chocolate momos to Maggi momos—the introduction of fruit momos has crossed a line for many. This new trend is a testament to how far food experiments can go, but it is clear that not every innovation is welcomed with open arms.
