Delhi Police Crackdown on Illegal Kidney Transplant Racket: Key Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Delhi Police have requested documentation details from Noida’s health department regarding organ transport, following the arrest of seven individuals linked to an illegal kidney transplant racket. The Crime Branch has also contacted the district chief medical officer’s office for further information.
Arrest Of Key Suspect
Among those arrested is Dr. D Vijaya Rajakumari, a 50-year-old kidney transplant surgeon who worked on a fee-for-service basis at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in southeast Delhi. She allegedly performed around 15 transplant surgeries for Bangladeshi nationals between 2021 and 2023.
Investigation by Crime Branch
The Crime Branch is delving deeper into the case, suspecting the involvement of additional medical staff or doctors. They have asked for details on the procedures followed by private hospitals in Noida for kidney and other organ transplants. Dr. Rajakumari also conducted surgeries at Yathartha Hospital in Noida, where she served as a visiting consultant. The police arrested her along with her assistant, Vikram Singh, and three Bangladeshi nationals: Rasel, Mohammad Sumon Miyan, and Mohammad Rokon alias Rahul Sarkar alias Bijay Mondal.

The arrests were made over a two-week operation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Acting on a tip-off, they apprehended the suspects, including Dr. Rajakumari, who was involved in the alleged kidney transplant racket spanning Bangladesh and the Delhi-NCR region
