Delhi Man Booked for Sexually Assaulting Mother
A 39-year-old man has been booked for repeatedly raping his mother in the Hauz Qazi area. Police reports reveal that the accused attacked his mother multiple times this month, leaving her deeply traumatised. Such incidents not only highlight extreme family violence but also raise serious concerns about mental health, safety inside homes, and the stigma that often silences survivors of sexual assault.
How the Incident Unfolded
The complainant, a homemaker married to a retired government employee, had recently returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with her husband and daughter. During their journey, her son, identified as Md Firoz alias Suhel, allegedly accused her of having a “bad character” in calls made to his father and even demanded that she be divorced immediately.
After the family returned home on August 1, the situation worsened. On that very day, the accused allegedly attacked his mother. He attempted a second assault the next day, forcing the woman to temporarily move to her elder daughter’s in-laws’ house for safety.
The Night of the Most Serious Assault
The most terrifying attack occurred on August 11. When the woman returned home late in the evening, her son asked to speak with her privately. He then locked her in a room, threatened her with a knife and scissors, and raped her. Out of fear and shame, she stayed silent initially and began sleeping in the same room as her younger daughter for protection.
But on August 14, around 3:30 am, the accused reportedly assaulted her again. This time, the woman gathered courage, reached out to her daughter, and went straight to the Hauz Qazi police station to file a complaint.
Police Action and Investigation
Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials confirmed that the accused is a graduate but unemployed. The survivor, who is illiterate, has been offered legal support and counselling assistance. An investigation is ongoing to ensure justice is delivered.
Health and Social Impact
Incidents like this Delhi horror case reveal not only physical violence but also long-term emotional damage. Survivors of such assaults often struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, sleep disturbances, and feelings of guilt or shame. Experts stress that immediate psychological counselling, family support, and medical care are crucial for recovery.
Why Support Systems Matter
Mental health specialists warn that victims in cases of family-based sexual assault face double trauma, first from the act itself, and second from the stigma and fear of speaking out. Breaking the silence is often the hardest step. Authorities and health professionals urge survivors to seek timely counselling, join support groups, and not hesitate to report abuse, no matter how close the perpetrator may be.
Conclusion
This Delhi horror case is a chilling reminder that sexual violence can occur even within the walls of one’s own home. The survivor’s decision to come forward reflects remarkable courage. At the same time, it underscores the urgent need for stronger family awareness, accessible mental health care, and societal support for women who suffer in silence.
