2 Kids Dead as Dad Suspects Wife’s Affair in Gujarat

A 41-year-old schoolteacher allegedly took the lives of his two young children before dying by suicide. The act appears to have been driven by severe emotional distress due to a suspected extramarital affair involving his wife.

Incident Overview

Alpeshbhai Kantibhai Solanki, a teacher at a private school, was found dead alongside his two children, aged 7 and 2, in their home. His wife, Phalguni, who works as a clerk at the Zila Panchayat office, discovered the scene after being unable to contact him by phone.
Concerned, she contacted relatives who broke into the home, where they found the children unresponsive and Alpeshbhai deceased nearby. According to the police, the children were allegedly poisoned.

Evidence Suggests Emotional Breakdown

During the investigation, police recovered a 5–6-page suicide note, two diaries, and multiple videos from Alpeshbhai’s mobile phone. These items revealed a clear pattern of emotional distress due to a suspected extramarital affair.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar, one of the diaries was specifically addressed to his wife and contained detailed reflections on the emotional strain he had been experiencing over the past two months.

Allegations and Legal Action

Following the incident, Alpeshbhai’s brother filed a police complaint accusing his wife, Phalguni, of having an extramarital relationship with a man named Naresh Kumar Rathod. Based on this complaint, both individuals were arrested as the investigation continues.
The diaries and videos reportedly reveal that Alpeshbhai had been mentally distressed and emotionally overwhelmed by repeated marital conflicts and suspicions of infidelity.

Mental Health Implications

This incident shines a harsh light on the potential consequences of untreated emotional turmoil within relationships. Emotional distress due to a suspected extramarital affair can escalate to dangerous levels if not addressed through communication, counselling, or psychological support.

Conclusion

This heart-wrenching event underlines how emotional distress due to a suspected extramarital affair can tragically spiral into irreversible decisions. While personal betrayal can be emotionally devastating, it’s essential to encourage mental health support, awareness, and timely intervention to prevent such tragedies.
