10-Year-Old Boy Found Dead, Dad on the Run

A 10-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his father in Delhi’s Outer North district, specifically in the Om Vihar Colony of the Narela area. The incident came to light on Tuesday when local police received an emergency call reporting a child’s body found with visible neck injuries.

Initial Discovery and Emergency Response

The Narela Police were alerted to a suspected homicide in Bankner’s Om Vihar Colony. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a young boy, aged approximately 10 years, bearing signs of trauma, particularly around the neck region. The child was declared dead.

Mother’s Statement and Family Background

The victim’s mother, Komal, informed the police that her son had left for school that morning but failed to return home by the usual time. She expressed growing concern throughout the day, which turned to horror when she received a phone call from her estranged husband, Narender. During the call, he allegedly confessed to killing their son.
Komal also shared that she had been living separately from Narender due to ongoing domestic disputes. She had been solely caring for their two children since the separation.

Police Investigation and Current Status

Authorities have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder. Forensic analysis of the crime scene, along with preliminary evidence, suggests that the boy may have died due to strangulation.
At present, the accused father is absconding. Law enforcement agencies have formed multiple search teams to locate and apprehend him. Meanwhile, the child’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further medico-legal evidence.

Psychosocial Aspects

This tragic case highlights the often-overlooked risk factors in families experiencing prolonged domestic discord. Children in such environments are particularly vulnerable. Mental health support, counselling services, and community interventions are crucial in preventing such extreme outcomes.

Conclusion

While the investigation is ongoing, this incident stands as a sombre reminder of the impact of domestic violence not only on spouses but also on innocent children. Timely intervention and protective mechanisms could potentially save lives in similar high-risk family situations.
