Teen Girl Flees After Giving Birth in Hospital Toilet

A tragic and alarming incident occurred at a government hospital in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, where a stray dog was found carrying the body of a newborn baby in its mouth. This shocking discovery has raised serious concerns about hospital safety, hygiene, and patient supervision.

How the Incident Came to Light

The incident took place early Saturday morning at the Civil hospital in Mhow, about 25 km from Indore. A hospital security guard noticed a dog carrying something unusual near the hospital toilet area. On closer inspection, it was found to be the body of a newborn. The guard immediately chased the dog away and recovered the infant’s body.
Hospital authorities were alerted, and an internal inquiry began without delay.

17-Year-Old Girl Suspected of Delivering the Baby

According to Dr. H.R. Verma, the hospital in-charge, a 17-year-old girl had been admitted to the hospital on Friday night around 9:00 PM. She was complaining of abdominal (colic) pain.

Later, CCTV footage showed the girl entering the toilet between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM. Based on the timing and the footage, doctors suspect that she gave birth in the toilet possibly without informing anyone or realizing she was in labor. Soon after the suspected delivery, the girl was seen leaving the hospital with an unidentified man, avoiding medical staff.

Preliminary Findings Suggest the Baby Was Stillborn

Hospital officials believe that the baby may have been stillborn and left behind in the toilet area. A stray dog may have entered the premises and picked up the body, leading to the horrifying discovery.
The infant’s body was sent for post-mortem examination on Saturday morning. “Initial findings suggest a premature birth, but we are waiting for the final autopsy report to know more,” said Dr. Verma.

Police Launch Search for the Teen Mother and Accomplice

The local police have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter. Authorities are going through CCTV footage and hospital records to trace the girl and the man who fled with her.
Dr. Verma confirmed, “We are fully cooperating with police investigations. All CCTV footage and relevant hospital documents have been shared with them.”

Raising Concerns Over Hospital Safety and Patient Monitoring

This distressing incident has raised important questions regarding hospital security, especially in sensitive areas like maternity and emergency wards. How a dog could enter a government hospital and how a patient could deliver a baby unnoticed are matters of serious concern.
Many are calling for stricter monitoring protocols, better patient support systems, and improved infrastructure to ensure the dignity and safety of all patients especially minors and vulnerable individuals.

Conclusion

This unfortunate case serves as a grim reminder of the gaps in our healthcare system ranging from patient education to hospital supervision. As the investigation continues, hospitals must review their emergency response systems, train staff to recognize warning signs and create safe, supportive spaces for young women in distress.
