Hospital Visit for Boil Ends in Tragic Death

A 17-year-old girl, Vandana Tuppada from Hedigonda village in Byadagi taluk, tragically lost her life on Tuesday following treatment at a private hospital in Haveri. She had gone to the hospital for a minor issue (a boil on her wrist) but her condition suddenly worsened after receiving an injection.

What Happened at the Hospital?

Vandana’s family said she was in good health before the hospital visit and blamed her sudden death on possible medical negligence. In a state of grief and anger, they placed her body outside the hospital as a mark of protest, demanding accountability from the medical staff.

Hospital Staff Missing After Incident

After the incident, the hospital staff including doctors were reportedly unavailable. This raised further concern among the locals and the victim’s family about the hospital’s conduct.

Officials Respond and Begin Inquiry

Dr. Prabhakar Kundur, the taluk medical officer, visited the hospital to inspect the situation. He confirmed that preliminary information was collected and that the hospital will temporarily close while investigations are underway. A detailed report will be submitted to higher authorities for further action.
Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) L.S. Shirakol, along with City Circle Police Inspector Mothilal Pawar and other officers, also visited the hospital to ensure law and order.
