Haryana Man Kills Mother After She Refuses ₹20

In Jaisinghpur village in Haryana’s Nuh district, a 56-year-old woman was killed by her son after she refused to give him ₹20. The incident took place on Saturday night and has shocked the local community.

What Happened

According to police reports, the accused, Jamshed, got into an argument with his mother, Rajiya, when she declined to give him a small amount of money. Enraged, he picked up an axe and attacked her. The injuries were fatal, and she died on the spot.
Shockingly, after the attack, Jamshed stayed in the house overnight with his mother’s body. He was taken into police custody the following day and is now being questioned.

Drug Addiction: A Key Factor

Police have confirmed that Jamshed is a long-term drug user. He has reportedly been consuming marijuana and opium for several years. Drug addiction can severely affect a person’s thinking, emotions, and behaviour. It often leads to poor impulse control, sudden anger, and even violence.
In this case, Jamshed’s addiction likely played a major role in his extreme and tragic reaction to a minor conflict.

Family Background and Mental Stress

Rajiya had already been through a difficult time. Her husband, Mubarak, passed away just four months ago. Losing a partner can be emotionally devastating and may weaken the family’s emotional support system.
This loss, combined with Jamshed’s addiction and behavioural issues, may have contributed to ongoing tension in the household.

Police and Legal Action

  • The local police registered an FIR and began a formal investigation.
  • The weapon used in the attack, an axe, has been recovered.
  • The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination and then returned to the family for burial.
  • Jamshed remains in custody and is undergoing interrogation. He may also undergo a mental health evaluation.

Why This Case Matters

This tragic event highlights the dangerous impact of unmanaged drug addiction, especially within families already dealing with stress or grief. Substance abuse not only affects the person using drugs but can also put family members at risk.

Sadly, in many rural areas, access to addiction treatment or mental health services is limited. Without proper support, small family conflicts can spiral out of control, sometimes with deadly consequences.

Conclusion

This case serves as a painful reminder of how crucial it is to address substance abuse early and to provide emotional support for families dealing with loss or trauma. Awareness, community-based programs, and access to mental health care can help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
