Medical Professionals Arrested for Defrauding Students in Chennai

In a significant development, three individuals, including two medical professionals, have been arrested by the Maraimalai Nagar police in Chennai. This action comes in light of suspicions surrounding their involvement in defrauding students who did not complete their medical education. The arrests followed a formal complaint filed by a private medical facility located in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu district.

Police records reveal that the medical college staff discovered a deceptive scheme targeting students. Allegedly, certain individuals had been misleading students by falsely promising to secure counterfeit degree certificates, including for those who had not successfully completed their courses. Responding to the formal complaint lodged by the medical facility, the Maraimalai Nagar police took prompt action and initiated a case against the suspected individuals involved in this fraudulent activity.

The individuals in question have been identified as Kingsley (32) from Kanyakumari, his brother Ezhilarasu (30), and Vijay Prakash (27) from Cuddalore. Kingsley, holding an MBBS and MS degree, actively serves as a professor in a private medical college in Chengalpattu district. Ezhilarasu, an MBBS graduate, actively practices as a physician. Vijay Prakash, in his role as a middleman, actively collected money from students and facilitated illegal transactions. Allegedly conducting these illicit activities while residing in a leased flat, they purportedly charged between ₹2 and ₹4 lakhs for each subject.

Following their apprehension, the police took swift action, seizing cash, mobile phones, and counterfeit certificates from the suspects. Subsequently, the trio has been remanded to judicial custody, with ongoing legal proceedings.
