Natural Summer Coolers You Can Make at Home

Come summer, and we crave a cool drink to beat the heat. The most common are coconut water, sugarcane juice, lime juice (sweet or salty), watermelon juice, kokum sharbat, rose sharbat, milk rose, to name a few.

Well, this is your lucky day as we talk about some natural summer coolers that are easy to prepare and bid bye-bye to the summer heat.

1. Saunf sherbat / fennel seeds drink

Well, this is your lucky day as we talk about some natural summer coolers that are easy to prepare and bid bye-bye to the summer heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fennel seeds
  • Mishri – as per taste
  • Black Salt
  • Lime juice
  • Water

Method

  • Blend fennel seeds and mishri into a fine powder
  • Add the powder to a vessel of water
  • Stir till the powder mixes with the water
  • Keep aside for some time so the water absorbs the flavours
  • Strain the mixture into a glass
  • Add lime juice and black salt, as per taste
  • Garnish with a couple of peppermint leaves
  • You can add ice cubes, if you want.

Your fennel seed drink is ready!  Fennel has cooling properties and aids in digestion as well.

2. Cucumber – Mint Tulsi cool drink

Ingredients

  • 1 Cucumber – peeled and chopped
  • Mint leaves – 10
  • Tulsi leaves – 3
  • Lime juice – 1 tsp
  • Rock salt – 1 pinch
  • Water – 1 glass

Method

  • Blend the chopped cucumber, mint leaves, and basil leaves with water.
  • Strain the mixture ( if required) into a glass
  • Add lime juice and rock salt, and stir and mix well
  • Serve cool, with ice (if you prefer)

3. Sabja Water

Ingredients

A few Sabja /basil seeds

1 glass of water

 

Method

  • In 1 glass of water, add a few sabja seeds (10-15 nos.)
  • Let them soak for a couple of hours
  • Drink up!

Sabja seeds are cooling for our body, aid in digestion, being rich in fiber.

4. Infused water

Ingredients

Water

Watermelon pieces/cucumber slices/orange slices

 

METHOD :

  • In a bottle of water, add a few watermelon pieces or cucumber pieces or orange slices.
  • Let the water soak in the flavours.
  • Keep sipping this infused water throughout the day.
  • You can add a dash of lime or some rock salt or any desired spices to the infused water.

For those of us who cannot drink plain water, this infused water is an alternative to stay hydrated throughout the day.
