Private Hospital Sealed After Shocking Surgery Mistake
The Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has suspended two doctors following serious allegations of medical negligence. The incident, which occurred at a private hospital in Sopore town, Baramulla district, has sparked public outrage and led to swift government action.

Government's Immediate Response
In response to public concerns, the government took strict measures. Gynaecologist Dr. Anjum Nazir and Medical Officer Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar were suspended with immediate effect. Additionally, the authorities sealed the hospital’s operation theatre pending further investigation.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo confirmed the action on social media platform X, stating, “We have initiated action against the doctors involved in the recent incident at a private hospital in Sopore.”
Suspension and Private Practice Ban
To ensure an unbiased investigation, Secretary of Health Syed Abid Rasheed Shah ordered the suspension of both doctors. They have been attached to the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, until further notice. Furthermore, both medical professionals are now prohibited from engaging in any private practice across the Jammu and Kashmir region.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the incident. A three-member team has been assigned to investigate the matter thoroughly. Sopore Block Medical Officer, Dr. Zulfikar Nabi, stated that until the investigation is concluded, no further details can be disclosed.
“The operation theatre will remain sealed until the inquiry is completed,” Shah confirmed, ensuring the integrity of the investigation process.
